Concept and Methodology

The project GREENBEAT is a pioneering initiative that leverages research, collaboration, and innovation to address key challenges in Sustainable Future Communication Networks. Focused on Connecting Intelligence and Trustworthiness as pivotal research areas, GREENBEAT aims to explore and tackle open research challenges while integrating cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) into communication networks. This approach is poised to revolutionize communication by enabling ubiquitous, real-time, and trustworthy connectivity across devices with diverse requirements and capabilities.

Moreover, GREENBEAT recognizes the imperative of enhancing user experience in future networks, emphasizing sustainability and trustworthiness while meeting escalating demands for data rates and capacity. By harnessing AI solutions and exploring novel technologies such as ML-aided network operations and spectrum utilization, GREENBEAT endeavors to pave the way for economically viable and sustainable deployments of 6G networks. Furthermore, the project prioritizes the security, privacy, and ethical implications of pervasive AI functionality, aiming to develop Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) and mitigate adversarial attacks on AI-based systems. Through collaborative efforts and innovative approaches, GREENBEAT seeks to not only advance research and technological capabilities but also foster a culture of inclusive collaboration and green business model innovation. These efforts are underpinned by a comprehensive management framework aimed at ensuring the smooth operation, communication, and dissemination of project activities to maximize their impact.

Main Goals of GREENBEAT

Work Package 1

Advance State of the Art in the Area of Connecting Intelligence and Trustworthiness

The project aims to gain practical and theoretical expertise in integrating intelligence into future wireless networks using AI/ML technologies for improved connectivity and quality of experience. It also focuses on ensuring trustworthiness in future communication networks and applications, while fostering teamwork and individual exploration to broaden skills and knowledge.

Work Package 2

Team Network Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer

The main goal of this work package is to enhance collaborative research and spread excellence, particularly focusing on partners from widening countries, by developing training materials, organizing sessions, and implementing hands-on tasks such as collaborative proposal writing and GREENBEAT technology scouting. Additionally, it aims to share best practices and establish an experimental research lab in 6G network design at TUS.

Work Package 3

Scientific and Entrepreneurial Collaboration for Competitive Innovation

The initiative aims to mobilize research and technological capacity at TUS by providing training and skills development to address a wide range of technological innovations and foster collaboration with local businesses. Additionally, it seeks to establish networking channels for researchers and innovators within Bulgaria and internationally, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within the ICT and DTI communities.

Work Package 4

Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation

The main objective is to facilitate the coordinated promotion and dissemination of research outputs, including disseminating research and innovation findings, methodologies, and tools to enhance research capacity in project key areas. This involves sharing experiences, best practices, and transfer methodologies, engaging relevant media for project communication, fostering exploitation of results through links with stakeholders and businesses, and ensuring data management compliance with GDPR policy and open access principles.

Work Package 5

Project Management

This work package focuses on the administrative, technical, and quality assurance management, as well as overall coordination of the project, aiming for successful completion of project goals within set timelines and budgets. Tasks include organizing meetings, reporting, facilitating communication, financial management, and interfacing with the EC through the Project Coordinator (PC), supported by the Technical Manager and Project Management Team (PMT). Close coordination with all partners ensures effective project management and strong involvement in WP 1 activities.
